Quick Cash
It’s pretty common. You are part-way through the month and your checkbook is running dry. Unfortunately, your shopping list isn’t. What to do? There are many options for making quick cash. Several are adaptable to individual situations and certain ideas work better for some that for others. Nevertheless, the bottom line remains the same. Cash is needed, and it’s needed before a paycheck will come.
One of the easiest and quickest options is to take out a loan. There are several types of loans; payday loan, cash advance, title, and even personal loans. All of these options are similar in that you can get a set amount of money that has to be repaid in a relatively short amount of time. If you know that you will have the money to pay the loan back when that paycheck comes, these loans can be a great option. If it turns out your wallet is short on cash every month already, getting a loan probably isn’t the best idea. Doing basic research and knowing what kind of options are available for you will save you a huge headache later.
Next up: sell your stuff. Who doesn’t have extra stuff lying around? Gather up all those old cd’s from high school and list them on a seller’s website, or have a garage sale. Although you won’t get what you paid for them, anything you sell will be money in your pocket and less storage in your closet. There are several options here as well. Sites like eBay, Amazon and Craig’s List are designed for such sales. Even putting together a list and posting it on the cork board at the nearest grocery store will get the word out. And, of course, merchandise isn’t limited to music. Electronics, furniture, wall décor, just about anything works. Even if the item isn’t functioning, there may be someone out there who can use it for parts, or would want to refurbish it. Options are endless with a little imagination.
Not only can you sell goods that you have purchased, but also goods you have made. Many crafters and carpenters have found a way to sell their creations for a little profit. Again, doing two things at once; having something to do that you love and making some quick cash. The idea isn’t limited to goods, either. What are you great at? Many people can use help with certain things that they feel inadequate at. Organization, for instance, is a big one. Offer to organize for people for a small fee. Walk their dogs. Offer to be brute labor. Even offering to be a handy man (or woman) can get you some fast cash.
One that may not occur to you but can be very fruitful: be a babysitter. We all love to get out once in a while, but it never hurts to stay in and make some extra coin. Babysitting can be a very fruitful venture. Ask around and find out what parents are paying these days. You can set your own price or haggle with your “clients”. If you have kids of your own, not only will you make some money, but your kids will have someone to play with for the evening. If that doesn’t appeal to you, set up a babysitting group. Trade with other couples on a regular basis, thus saving yourself the cost of a sitter. Although this won’t necessarily put money in your pocket, it will keep some of you previously hard-earned cash there.
Saving money is hard, and making extra can seem to be even harder. Using your imagination and taking advantage of your own strengths can help you do both. Not to mention all the people you will have the potential of meeting and even the networking that can be done for other ventures.
